As of May 1, 2021 Dr. Peter Rutti has retired from the practice of Ophthalmology – Below is the retirement announcement letter sent in February 2021.
Dr. Peter Rutti has been a respected part of our medical community in San Jose for almost 45 years. With mixed emotions, we want to announce his retirement from the practice of ophthalmology, effective May 2021.
Dr. Rutti first established his ophthalmology practice in 1977. In 2014 he joined Eye Consultants of Silicon Valley (ECSV), formerly Carey Vision Medical Group (CVMG), and it has been our great pleasure to work with him directly since that time. We have seen first-hand the highest quality eye care that he provides, and the bond he has established with thousands of patients over those years.
Our other doctors are ready to continue your eye care here at ECSV. In case you are not already familiar with our other doctors, here is some brief background info:
Dr. Bart Carey, MD has practiced comprehensive ophthalmology for almost 30 years. He established CVMG (now ECSV) in 2000. Over that time he has performed thousands of cataract and refractive surgery procedures. Dr. Carey previously served on the faculty at Stanford.
Dr. Dipali Apte, MD, PhD has been in practice for nearly 20 years, and specializes in glaucoma and cataract care. She is currently one of the only surgeons in the Bay Area who offers both femto-laser cataract surgery and specialized medical and surgical care for glaucoma.
Dr. Shirin Barez, MD has been in practice for almost 20 years and is one of the most respected retinal specialists in the Bay Area and beyond. For many years Dr. Barez has served on the faculty at UC Berkeley, teaching new eye doctors the latest in retinal care. She has special interest in the treatment of all retinal diseases, including macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Ellin Wu, OD is one of the leading optometrists and contact lens specialists in our area. She performs general eye exams, and receives referrals for challenging contact lens fitting.
It is an understatement to say that the last year has been a challenging time due to covid-19. We know that many patients have put off some doctor visits, including eye exams. Please be aware that we take every precaution to keep you safe in our office, including mandatory masks, air filters in every room, and constant and thorough cleaning. All of our employees have been vaccinated against covid-19. We take your overall health as seriously as your eye health.
